Welcome Family and Friends!!!

Welcome to the Chapman Family Blog!! I discovered that I am much more efficient at keeping the family photos up to date online than I am actually scrapbooking. It's nothing fancy, just a slice of life from the Chapman's in Arizona. Enjoy!

Potty Training

Well, the time to potty train Lincoln has arrived.
Last weekend, I dedicated the entire weekend to getting our little man officially out of diapers and into big boy underwear! I started Friday morning. We had been talking to him for a while about wearing his big boy underwear, and going pee and poop in the big boy potty. He has been going pee in the toilet, just not on a regular basis. It was time to make it official. So, first thing Friday I put him in underwear, and started giving him liquids galore. Usually I try to limit how much he drinks (he would drink all day if I let him). However, the more he drank, the more opportunities there would be to "train". I set the timer for every 10 minutes and let the fun begin! Needless to say, Friday was messy and exhausting. Just about the time I sat down or started to do anything, the timer would go off or he would start to have an accident. We didn't stop all day long. Everytime the timer would go off, he would look at me and his eyes and mouth would get all big and he would run for the bathroom. 19 pairs of underwear and 2 loads of laundry later, it was time for bed.

Everytime Lincoln successfully went potty in the toilet, he got a sticker for his chart. Of course, they were dinosaur stickers! :)

Showing off some of his new big boy underwear

I just had to get a shot of the cutest little behind.

Aside from the fact that every 10 minutes, or before if there was an accident, Lincoln still played like usual. Here he is running his fire truck down the hallway!

Cousin Reese stopped by for some Potty Training 101 tips!!

Giving Lincoln some encouragement!

I couldn't resist. There are little dinosaurs marching across his behind.

Playing, playing, playing.

Potty training is hard work! This was about 6:30 pm. He was tired!

I can't get over how BIG he looks in this picture, especially now with underwear on!

I let him snooze for a few minutes, but it was too early to sleep for the night! I snapped this pic as he was trying to wake up.

At the end of day 1. He earned himself lots of stickers!

I stopped using the timer on Saturday about noon, after he had told me a few times himself (without the timer) that he had to go potty. It just seemed to click in his mind. I was absolutely amazed, and soooooo excited for him! I just constantly asked if he had to go, and he only had 4 accidents on Saturday!

Below is Lincoln's dinosaur parade, for Dukes viewing pleasure.

Lincoln would tell me that he had to potty, but would stop and pick up his dinosaurs, put them on this frisbee and take the whole ensamble to the bathroom.

On our way to the potty, dinosaurs and all.

Lincoln did such a good job, and didn't have an accident all day on Sunday. So, I got brave and ventured out Sunday afternoon to Target so he could pick out a new toy for doing such a great job! (Where he proceded to pick out--- DINOSAURS!!) We were gone for about an hour, and NO ACCIDENT!!! I asked him probably a hundred times if he had to potty, and each time he said no. I guess he knew what he was talking about!

I am so proud of our little man. At the end of the three days, I think it is safe to say that he is pretty much potty trained. YEAH Linkers! NO MORE DIAPERS!!!

We've got ourselves a FISH!

This is the first of I am certain, MANY, swimming videos for the summer. Lincoln has really taken to the water again this year and shows no fear. In fact, he will just go under and start swimming. We are very proud of our little fish. If you look close, you can see his white little buns under the water, as he has something against wearing his swimsuit; which is no big deal at home... He's gonna be mad when we go in public!!

Palm Springs

Road Trip! Over Memorial Day weekend, Lincoln and I took a road trip to Palm Springs. My Dad and Caroline were vacationing with some friends; and they invited us to come over for a few days. Thanks so much for letting us "crash" your vacation. We had a blast. And thank you to Mark and Lori for opening up your home to us, and for the yummy wine!!
It is summer in the desert, so we spent most of our time swimming. Lincoln gets better and better each time he's in the water. Now instead of fighting us on wearing his sandles, it is his swimsuit. For some reason unknown to Ryan and I, he just hates wearing it. He kept it on long enough to snap the pic below. He only wants to wear his swimmer (swim diaper). Which, as of TODAY is no longer an option since we are potty trained now (pics to come soon)!!! So, it looks like we may have a skinny dipper on our hands! :)

Getting ready to jump to Papa. One of the MANY times!

Relaxing with Papa.

By the end of the two days we were there, Lincoln had mastered swimming around this little table all by himself; using the bench of course. But nevertheless he went around and around the table completely under water!

Target practice. He did manage to hit the can a time or two.

Cheesin it at the pool with Granny and Papa

At The Living Desert Zoo in Palm Springs. Lincoln told us before we went in that he was going to see a rhino, a hippo, a giraffe... he listed quite a few. It was so cute. This zoo is a zoo of desert animals, so the only animal he saw on his list was the giraffe. He didn't seem to mind.

Walking to the Big Horn Sheep mountain with Papa and Granny

He didn't want to have his picture taken, so he was pretending to sleep.

His eyes got irritated about this time, I think from dust or dirt or something. But for the rest of the time at the zoo he was rubbing them, and they were red.

checking out the Big Horn Sheep getting a drink

Petting the goats. He thought they were funny.

He got right down in this guys face and said "Hello Cow". I think because of his coloring?

More time in the pool.

Very tired after a big day at the zoo and swimming.

Running in the open grassy area in back of the house.

Beautiful view out back

Running with Granny

What a day! So tired... asleep on Papa

What a fun trip! Thanks again to Dad and Caroline, Penny and David, and Mark and Lori for including us in their vacation.
