Welcome Family and Friends!!!

Welcome to the Chapman Family Blog!! I discovered that I am much more efficient at keeping the family photos up to date online than I am actually scrapbooking. It's nothing fancy, just a slice of life from the Chapman's in Arizona. Enjoy!

The Bed Wars

About 2 weeks ago, Ryan & I woke up to Lincoln screaming
in the middle of the night... but we weren't hearing it
through the baby monitor! He was in the family room.
We bolted out of bed to find a confused, crying, and sleepy
Lincoln wandering throught the dark family room.
I figured it was going to happen sooner or later, he had
climbed out of his crib!!! He spent the rest of that night
in our bed (a first since he was a newborn).

The next day, after thoughts of broken bones and sleepless
nights, I came home from work and promptly took off
the front of his crib. We made a big deal about it for him.
Lincoln & his "big boy" bed. Well, that didn't work. We
have been fighting him sleeping in that bed ever since.
He'll sit in the bed when we put him down at night, but right
after we leave the room, we can hear his little footsteps
as he methodically gets all of his "night nights", pillow
and stuffed animals out of his bed
(this takes him 3 or 4 trips) and lays them by the
door where he proceeds to sleep. Sometimes for the
entire night, sometimes not. Some nights he
seems to think that he needs to come sleep with us.
The floor just won't do.

I talked to a lot of moms, and
read about transitioning from the crib to toddler bed.
The message I got was that it takes some kids more time
than others to transition, and eventually Lincoln will
start sleeping back in his bed. (It just kills me to know
that he is sleeping on the floor!!!)

So the other day I went to wake him up from a nap,
totally expecting to find him curled by the door.
To my shock and surprise, he was still in his bed! I ran
for the camera as he usually wakes the second the door
opens.

A shot from the door...

My sleeping angel.

Even after 3 camera flashes, he still slept soundly. I guess
sleeping on the floor can take its toll!!

As I write this now, the little man is sleeping (hopefully
for the night) in his bed!!! Yeah!
